College of Administrative Sciences and Informatics
Due to the giant technological progress, the great changes in all
aspects of life worldwide, and in the view of the emergence of the
world's new order that involves the appearance of new terminologies
such as globalization, the successive administrations of University
Graduate Union (UGU) and Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU)
realized the importance of coping with all the current developments.
They believe deeply that all these developments should be utilized to
serve the Palestinian community.
History of the College
The idea of the information systems was first established as a branch of the
department of computer engineering in the academic year 95/96 to cover
the shortage of such qualified cadre in the local market. In 1997, a new
department called "The Department of Administrative Sciences and
Information Systems" was established to include the information systems,
office automation, programming and database. The service courses
(general course) for other departments were also offered by this
department. In 1999, the program of contemporary business administration
was proposed for the Ministry of Higher Education for accreditation.
In summer 1999, the PPU was restructured to include four different colleges.
One of the colleges is the College of Administrative Sciences and
Informatics (CASI) to offer information systems and contemporary
business administration. In September 1999, the board of trustees ratified
the graduation of the first information systems group. At the same time, the first group
of contemporary business administration was admitted to the college and
another new field of study, the information technology was proposed for the Ministry of
Higher Education for accreditation. This allowed the university to
initiate this program in the academic year 2000/2001. A year later the
Graphics and Multimedia major was launched.
